Commission mourns board chair

The Board Chairperson of the Tobacco Commission, the Very Reverend Professor Timothy Nyasulu, has died.

Prof. Nyasulu succumbed to a short illness on the night of Tuesday, 24th March, 2026 at Ekwendeni Mission Hospital in Mzuzu.

Tobacco Commission Chief Executive Officer Mr Evans Chilumpha lamenting the loss saying in his three months as board chairperson,  Prof. Nyasulu served with excellence, wisdom commitment and humility.

“We will always treasure the exceptional leadership that the late Board Chairperson provided,” said Mr Chilumpha.

The Very Rev. Prof. Timothy Nyasulu, who was also the Vice Chancellor of Livingstonia University, was appointed Chairperson of the board of the Commission in December, 2025.
