More tobacco, more revenue in 2025

The 2025 tobacco selling season will by far outperform 2024 sales in terms of volume and revenue, an analysis of the latest sales report shows.

During last year’s selling season which lasted 16 weeks, 133 million kilogrammes of tobacco was sold at an average price of US$2.98/kilogramme, generating US$395million.

According to the most recent sales report covering 16 weeks of trading – up to Friday, July 25 – up to 172.9 million kilogrammes of the green gold valued at US$ 441.1million had been sold at an average price of UD$2.55/kilogramme.

As tobacco continues to flow to the floors, both the volume and the revenue will be far above last year’s and that of the previous years.

At the beginning of the 2025 selling season, tobacco buying companies had registered a collective demand of up to 213 million kilogrammes.

In its 2025-2030 strategic plan, the Commission eyes to achieve an annual national production of 200 million kilogrammes by 2030, a feat the regulator is optimistic will be achieved.
