Tobacco Commission extends grower registration and licensing period

The Tobacco Commission has extended the 2021/2022 grower registration and licensing period with one month.

The Commission had earlier scheduled the registration and licensing to run from June 28, 2021 to September 30, 2021 but the period has now been extended to October 29, 2021.

Announcing the extension in Lilongwe, The Tobacco Commission Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joseph Chidanti Malunga said the registration and licensing period has been extended to respond to growing demand for the services at the regulatory body’s offices.

“Our assessment shows that we will still have more tobacco growers seeking to get registered and licensed for the 2021/2021 growing season, hence the extension.

“During this extension, growers will not be required to pay any late registration penalties,” said Dr Chidanti Malunga.

Dr Chidanti Malunga has since urged growers to register and produce compliant tobacco for the crop to be competitive on the global market.
